The Nashville Diaries- Part Five
Let me start off by telling you that day four of our trip will go down in history as one of the best days of my entire life. Not to set your expectations too high!
We got up early (what else on this trip!) and headed to Lainey Wilson’s bar Bell Bottoms Up for a cold brew.
We walked around Broadway for a bit and then went in search of some Nashville hot chicken. It might not be everyone’s choice for breakfast, but we had a busy day ahead and needed to fuel! We chose Prince’s chicken in the Assembly food hall, and it was delicious.
We got an Uber out to our next venue Analog for the Brothers Osborne family fan party. I had been lucky enough to be quick enough to bag us two tickets; between that and a meet-and-greet for the UK tour earlier in the year, that membership was really paying for itself!
It was a true family affair as John’s two little ones crashed the stage during the show. They played a variety of album tracks, which was a proper treat to hear stuff that isn’t played as often!
Next up was some moonshine tasting at Ole Smokey. I had done this a few years back in Pigeon Forge and was super excited about it. You pay a small fee to take part, but you get six shots of moonshine and a beer, plus a $10 voucher to spend in store. The shots vary between flavoured spirits, lighter fluid and moonshine-soaked pickles and pineapples. They hit hard so be careful!
It was raining pretty hard by the time we got out of there and we got some pizza slices on Broadway to keep us going for a bit. The stadium was slightly delayed because of the storm and we spent some time in the room catching up on messages and chilling.
Shaboozey was one of the acts I was most excited to see and I didn’t dare hope but he brought out a special guest, the one who made this one of my best days ever- JELLY ROLL! Due to restrictions at the time, Jelly was unable to perform in Europe and I was crushed when he wasn’t on the initial lineup but he came out during Amen and there’s a video somewhere of me screaming my head off.
The fun didn’t end there though as he came out AGAIN to sing Hard Fought Hallelujah with Brandon Lake. What a night. Another real highlight for us was Kelsea Ballerini although her set was cut slightly short because of the delays earlier. Her special guest for the performance was Noah Kahan.
The evening was rounded off with a blistering high-energy set from Mr Keith Urban. He kept playing until 1am and he was fantastic, making real use of the wireless mics and running wild round the entire stadium. Another thing that really took us aback as Scottish girls abroad was the fact that it was still so warm in the stadium all night, to the point we still needed handheld fans!
