Carly Pearce- O2 Academy, Glasgow 25.02.25

5/5
With support from Wade Bowen.
It’s no surprise that this Glasgow gig sold out in minutes after the incredible show that Carly Pearce put on at Country 2 Country 2024. Though it is disappointing to have a venue upgrade from the legendary Barrowlands to the Academy, demand was too high for the smaller room.
It’s worth noting that Carly Pearce put out on social media that she was sick with the flu and her set would look slightly different to normal. She’s an absolute trooper and powered through the 80-minute set giving it her all.
Opening with “Rock Paper Scissors” she covered her self-penned back catalogue including “Country Music Made Me Do It”; “What He Didn’t Do” and “29”. The more stripped-back show left more space for Pearce to tell some of the stories behind her songs and its clear that this is the sort of performance she prefers giving.
A Glasgow audience is always up for a sing a long and its clear the support from the crowd meant a lot to Pearce. She ended the set with a promise that she’ll return soon as I suspect when she does- we’re gonna need a bigger venue.
